Maximising the juice from lemons & limes

Microwave, roll, slice...

Lemons and limes are used throughout cooking, but the amount of juice can sometimes be disappointing. Maximise the juice you obtain by following these three simple rules:

  • Warm your fruit for 20 seconds in a microwave. Microwaves heat food from the inside and cause some of the cell walls to rupture, giving up their juice more easily when squeezed.

  • Roll the fruit on the counter top before slicing. This will burst even more cells.

  • Slice the fruit from top to bottom rather than across the equator. This significantly increases the surface area of the fruit in contact with the juicer.

Following these simple rules will yield up to 40% more juice.
